We spent such a fun evening with Justin, Jessy, and their dog Duke at Little Presque Isle beach for their engagement session last week!
From our initial FaceTime meeting with Jessy & Justin before they booked their wedding, we really liked them both. In addition to getting the basics about what a couple is planning for their day, something I’m looking for is their personalities together and with us to see if we’re the right fit for them. We want to be able to contribute most positively to their day, and having personalities that mesh is a big part of that. We could tell from that first evening talking with the two of them that Justin and Jessy were going to be an ideal Enjoy the VU couple!
Jessy and Justin are our favorite kind of couple. They’re down-to-earth and easy to talk to, and they don’t take themselves too seriously. Our evening at Little Presque Isle beach was full of laughter and swapping jokes, and we are SO excited for their wedding in August!

Their Story
“Justin and I met at Beer fest almost 3 years ago. We met through mutual friends and both of us when we met knew that we wanted to keep getting to know each other and that this was something special. It took a little bit for us to officially take off, but once we were “official” we have been inseparable since. We got a dog, Duke, in March when COVID first started and have both loved starting a little family. Duke pretty much runs our house and we wouldn’t want it any other way. We can’t wait to get married so we can grow our family even more, this time with tiny humans!
Justin and I love the outdoors and doing pretty much anything outside. Duke is a Weimaraner and super active, so we like to try and get him as much exercise as possible and try to bring him to as many places as we can. We love to hang out with our friends and since we met at Beerfest, we clearly like drinking beer too, lol. Justin’s parents have a camp out in Au Train, so in the summers we go out there as many weekends as we can. We hang out at the lake and go boating. In the winters Justin skis and I snowboard. We like to ice fish as well, even though sometimes it ends up with us mostly ice drinking instead.”

Engagement Session at Little Presque Isle
Justin and Jessy are such an easy-going couple and we felt like we had known them for much longer than the few months since we had our initial Zoom call together! I always tell couples that the first 15-20 minutes of their engagement session is generally the most awkward, but to lean into that and go with the flow. But Jessy and Justin were complete naturals and before we knew it, a half hour had passed.

On top of her regular work schedule and wedding planning, Jessy is in a master’s program through NMU. She plans to work in public health, somewhere she can continue to help her community. Her heart is as big as her smile!

Little Presque Isle Beach Engagement Pictures
The day of their engagement session, Hancock topped out at 94 degrees! Before we headed toward Marquette I messaged Jessy to make sure they were still game, and she said of course! It was still pretty warm, but thankfully Little Presque Isle beach had some breeze which helped with both the heat and the bugs. These two were definitely troopers, and our hour together flew by.

I loved that Justin and Jessy planned two different outfits for their engagement pictures. We always recommend planning one more casual outfit and one more dressy for lots of variety in their gallery. The complimentary soft pink and blue shades were perfect for a beach session. Well done, you two!!
