Are you newly engaged and trying to figure out where to start with wedding planning?
We recommend starting with this post on how to start planning your dream wedding. If you try to book all of your vendors at once, you’re going to get overwhelmed – both with the amount of email you’re receiving as well as decision fatigue!
Once you’ve decided what type of wedding vendors you should book first for your dream Upper Peninsula wedding (*cough* read this blog post first), then you’ll be ready to review our list below of recommended vendors!
A note – sometimes businesses share “recommended lists” for wedding vendors that require those vendors to pay to be a part of the list. That’s not our style. We only recommend Upper Peninsula wedding vendors that we have worked with personally or have heard enough rave reviews about from others to trust. What other wedding vendors you select for your wedding impacts us, too! We want to help you have the smoothest experience possible with professional businesses you can trust.

Upper Peninsula Wedding Venues
Mount Bohemia schedules limited weddings during “slow times” for the resort. Whether you ride the ski lift up to wed on the top of the scenic overlook or keep your feet on the ground at the base of the mountain, you’re sure to have incredible views of the Keweenaw. Mount Bohemia also has a full bar onsite and makes the best wood-fired pizza we’ve ever had!

Keweenaw Mountain Lodge sits just south of Copper Harbor and is the perfect place to bring your adventurous friends together to celebrate. All wedding packages include an on-site event coordinator, guided hikes and mountain bike rides in summer and fall, or guided snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter. Whether you want a simple ceremony with epic scenery or a full Copper Country weekend experience, you’ll fall in love with Keweenaw Mountain Lodge.

The Hidden Pines Barn in Calumet MI sits on part of a 10-acre property near the Siskiwit Reception Hall. The property was intentionally developed for weddings, instead of renovating an older structure. The barn is just off Pine Street in Calumet. Tucked into the trees, it’s easy to forget we’re right in town instead of far out in the country! Facilities include running water and flush toilets.

The Harbor Haus is “where experiences are beautiful and memories last forever.” As one of the most popular restaurants in Copper Harbor, their wedding team is ready to help you coordinate each step of the way. Intimate elopement of 15 people? No problem. Larger celebration up to 125 people? They can handle it! No matter how you choose to celebrate, you’ll enjoy the epic scenery right on the shores of Lake Superior.
The Woodlands is a newer wedding venue in Houghton close to the Michigan Tech campus. Their natural and rustic site is perfect to host celebrations of up to 150 people and high peak tents with or without walls as well as portable bathrooms.

Belsolda Farm is a 60-acre property including a barn, apple orchards, berry patches, and rolling hay fields. Say I do in the apple orchard under a rustic arbor, then party the night away under twinkle lights, and end your night with a sparkler exit! Facilities include running water and flush toilets.

Make-Up/Hair
Both Beauty by Gisele Ryan and April’s Artistry will travel to your getting ready location for ultimate convenience on your wedding day!
If you don’t mind running into town, Rave Salon in Houghton can take care of all your hair and makeup needs including nails and eyelash extensions.
Event Rentals & Planning
Superior Events provides all of your Upper Peninsula rental needs, including tents, tables and chairs, uplighting, decor, and glassware.
Adria with Wedding Wishes offers day-of coordination in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Other companies have come and gone in the area, but it’s easy to see why Wedding Wishes is the top wedding coordinator in the Copper Country.
Taylored Weddings is your best bet for Central UP wedding planning and coordination. Mitch has meticulous attention to detail and we LOVE when we get his reception timelines. After discussing your wedding plans, everything is written up and coordinated – not just a list of introduction names and first dances, but even down to what time staff needs to move tables to make the dance floor. Then he sends it out to your other wedding vendors, so you have even less to think about!
Videography
Matthew Hill Creative is a three-person team providing creative wedding films in the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin. In addition to ceremony coverage, they spend the entire day with you to make sure all those special memories are documented. Then they condense those hours and hours of coverage into a shorter highlight film so it’s easy to relive your wedding day over and over.

Getting Ready Spaces
Marquette Area
Landmark Inn is easily my favorite hotel for bridal portraits in Marquette. Every room is elegantly decorated and features large, stately windows, making getting-ready portraits a breeze. The long, rectangular rooms are plenty large enough for the bridal party to get ready together without feeling “on top of” each other.
Want to have a seamless wedding day? Landmark Inn can host your wedding on site, from an intimate family wedding to an elegant grand ballroom event celebrating with all your friends!

The website for Union Station Depot in Negaunee describes the property as “unique lodging for the adventurous spirit.” That’s a pretty good description! It’s a photographer’s dream for a getting ready space – lots of historic details, large windows, and a big lawn out back. Each end holds a large room so the bride and groom can get together separately on the same property.

Keweenaw Area
Kemp’s Log Homes offer four different rental properties around Houghton County for the perfect rustic feel for your wedding. Whether you get married right on the patio or simply take advantage of the spacious houses for getting ready, you’ll feel right at home at Kemp’s.
DJ
Encore Entertainment – Dollar Bay DJ. Fred has led the party at numerous weddings, from the tip of the Keweenaw to Austin, Texas. He knows how to keep the party going all night long! But Fred does so much more than just controlling the music. He’s there to help you coordinate all the little reception details, like the top three couples who may win the anniversary dance. We also appreciate his communication with the rest of the wedding vendor team to help make your wedding reception as smooth as possible.
Taylored Weddings – yes, we already talked about them with event planning, but their DJ service is also top notch!
Floral Designers
Rock River Farms grows and creates bouquets from their flowers. They also have a “you pick” farm where you can choose your blooms and even create your own floral bouquets.

Protea Floral Design is Houghton / Hancock’s best option for stunning florals. Whether you want a free-spirited wildflower bouquet or a lush boho bouquet, Protea will bring your vision to life.

Weddings by Jeff is based in Skandia and creates luxury floral designs for Marquette area weddings. After their ceremony, Justin and Jessy removed these rose arrangements from the arch and repurposed them as head table decorations.
Lutey’s Flower Shop also provides flower arrangements to the Marquette area. The week before her wedding, one of our out-of-town brides realized she needed a change of plan. She wasn’t going to have time to make her own bouquets and boutonnieres like she thought. Lutey’s was able to take care of that stress point for her even on short notice.
