We spent the perfect June evening with Chaz & Alison for their Mid Michigan engagement session!
From our initial FaceTime meeting with Chaz & Alison before they booked their wedding, I liked them both. In addition to getting the basics about what a couple is planning for their day, something I’m looking for is their personalities together and with us to see if we’re the right fit for them. We want to be able to contribute most positively to their day, and having personalities that mesh is a big part of that. I could tell from that first evening talking with the two of them that Chaz and Alison were going to be a great Enjoy the VU couple!
Alison and Chaz are our kind of couple. They’re down to earth, easy to talk to, and extremely considerate of everyone around them. It’s easy to see they’re focused on their marriage being a success, not just the wedding day. They also don’t take themselves too seriously – just like Rob and me.
I had reached out to Alison the month before to let her know we would be down to visit family in June, and asked if they wanted to plan their engagement session while we were in the (relative) area. Alison said DEFINITELY! In fact, they had been planning to drive up part of the way to the Upper Peninsula because they didn’t want us to drive all the way down just for their engagement session. Um – just for them?! We totally would have, but it was definitely extra convenient to combine their session with our trip already!

Summer Mid Michigan Engagement Session
The last time we did a session at Stratford Woods Park it was a quiet Sunday summer evening. Alison and Chaz had Thursday and Saturday evenings open while we were in the lower peninsula, so I suggested Thursday evening (with Saturday as a backup of course) since it would probably be less busy on a weekday evening.
Imagine my surprise – and horror – when we pulled in to the parking lot to see nearly 100 people out and about, milling around the volleyball nets and playing a tournament. Fortunately Stratford Woods is a large enough park that we still had plenty of area to explore. In fact, we actually had less people pass by during their portraits than the time before. And, to top it all off, the bugs were nowhere near as bad – we never even used the bug spray I had (forgotten to pack and frantically) picked up at Target earlier that evening.

I could go on and on about how amazing of a couple Alison and Chaz are together (and definitely will in October after their wedding!). Suffice to say, my face hurt from all the laughing we did! I’ll spare you more gushing. For now, enjoy some of my favorite images from their Mid Michigan engagement session!
