Lake Linden Michigan Wedding
We’ve been looking forward to Brandon and Caitlin’s Lake Linden Michigan wedding since … well, basically since their engagement session last winter! They’re such an awesome couple and we had a blast on their whirlwind of a wedding day!
I already covered Brandon and Caitlin’s story in their engagement blog, but suffice to say it was a day worth celebrating! Every wedding is different – some quiet and relaxed, others a party the whole day. This one was definitely the latter 😉 It was so fun to spend the day with the couple as well as their close family and friends. Laughter filled the day, from getting ready through to the reception. We love relaxed couples like this!
I always prepare for worst case scenarios for every wedding (rain, crowds of people at our portrait location, etc.), but thankfully this wedding went off without a hitch. Well – except for the pair getting hitched. Bah dum .. tsss.
Caitlin planned their wedding full of details that pulled through the day. We loved the elegant touches, from the pink floral theme to the lace slippers to match her dress!
Wedding at School Forest in Lake Linden
Caitlin and her bridesmaids got ready in the cabin in School Forest. It was a great getting ready space because it was nice and open, so everyone could see and talk with each other as they got dressed.

Caitlin and her bridesmaids created these bouquets themselves. I would never have guessed. I loved the addition of succulents!

Sophia loved her mom’s dress!

Brandon and Sophia are so cute together! He can always make her smile!

Wedding Ceremony in Lake Linden MI School Forest

No wedding ever goes as planned, and of course there was a touch of that as the ceremony started a bit later than planned. Guests didn’t mind as they mingled and laughed with friends. It was definitely worth the wait!
The couple opted not to do a first look before their ceremony. Caitlin had always pictured the moment Brandon saw her coming down the aisle. We totally supported this decision as that’s what we decided for our wedding as well. Either way, the moment the groom first sees his bride is full of emotion.
Caitlin told Brandon if he didn’t cry when she came down the aisle she was going to turn around and do it again! Fortunately she only needed to walk once 😉

As with their life, their ceremony was filled with laughter!

Bridal Portraits at White City Beach
After the ceremony and a quick stop at Dreamland for pizza we headed out to White City Beach. This is one of our favorite beaches to spend a day, and we expected a cluttered and crowded beach. Instead we discovered that the wind kept everyone home and we had the coast to ourselves! The wind also assisted in creating dynamic portraits with the break wall creating a division of waves and utter calm.

Most of our weddings this year have smaller wedding parties (or none at all) so it was so fun to mix it up with this group!

Reception in Calumet Michigan
Brandon and Caitlin held their reception at Copper Country Curling Club. This is actually a complex of buildings, so while I was expecting to go into the long green tube-like building, we actually headed to the back parking lot. This is such a great wedding venue! The original foundation holds true to the Copper Country with Jacobsville sandstone scattered throughout. We also loved the supporting beams – perfect for stringing bistro lights! It also has great natural light near the dance floor as well as big barn doors that swing open.

After dinner Brandon and Caitlin cut the cake. We didn’t grab a slice of cake but we did get a cupcake, and I can attest it was one of the best I’ve ever had! Chocolate and red velvet – yum!
After the cake cutting the dancing started! Their first dance was to “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur.

It never fails – I always cry during the father-daughter dance! Fortunately the mother-son dance was lighthearted and I pulled myself together.

The couple had a great DJ and everyone had a lot of fun on the dance floor!

In closing: Brandon and Caitlin – congratulations on your wedding! Thanks for the laughs and the tears – it was an honor to be a part of such a memorable day. Best wishes for your marriage!
