Shawn came up to tour Michigan Tech over the summer and scheduled his senior pictures for the same weekend. After talking over the variety of options with him and his mom, we decided to plan a Keweenaw waterfall senior session at Hungarian Falls in Hubbell.
They only had Sunday afternoon available for Shawn’s senior photos, so we planned to head to Hungarian shortly after lunch. The middle falls is probably the most popular Keweenaw waterfall to hike to and photograph. Because of this, we generally advise against heading there on the weekends if we can help it. Thankfully we timed it right and hit a pocket of quiet time without too many other people around for Shawn’s pictures!

I love seeing how the falls change from year to year. We had enough rain in the weeks ahead of Shawn’s session to have a nice full waterfall, but the water wasn’t as deep as it was the year before with Jessey.

I love pulling moms in for at least a couple of frames during senior photos! It’s such a special year for the whole family – especially when they’re making photos part of a trip up for college scouting. I photographed Shawn’s girlfriend Lauren the same day, so we made sure to get some pictures of them together.

As the falls started to get busier, we packed up and headed down the road to a field we love near the Quincy Dredge. Shawn requested a jumping picture with lots of sky in the background, and this was the perfect place to get the shot!

In closing –
Shawn and family – thank you for planning these Keweenaw waterfall senior pictures as part of your trip to the Upper Peninsula. Rob and I loved meeting you guys and showing you some of our favorite parts of the Keweenaw. Wishing you all the best as you start this next chapter of your life!
