Senior Pictures in Copper Harbor, Michigan
How do you make your senior pictures really special? Plan to have them in one of your favorite places, of course! For Spencer, that meant having his Class of 2022 senior portraits in Copper Harbor, MI. In addition to visiting family in the central UP, Spencer and his dad love to come up to the Keweenaw and Isle Royale National Park. In fact, his dad Steve says he’s normally on one of the first flights out in the spring and again before they close in the fall! You don’t have to be a full-time Yooper to appreciate this incredible place the locals call “God’s country.”
Steve and Spencer planned their father-son weekend to come up to the Keweenaw Peninsula for his senior pictures. I love when families go the extra step to make senior year special!

Brockway Mountain Senior Photos
We met Spencer and Steve at the top of Brockway Mountain. It was a late August weekend afternoon, but the heavy clouds blowing in seemed to deter many of the tourists, and we had the overlook mostly to ourselves. Although we love sunny days, overcast days are perfect to photograph on top of Brockway Mountain because we can take advantage of every angle of the scenic overlook without worrying about having to squint against the bright sun!

Hockey Themed Senior Pictures
Spencer is an avid hockey player and plays with the Grand Rapids league, so of course we made sure to get some portraits with his jersey and stick. Despite living in the Keweenaw, I really don’t know much about hockey so it was really interesting to hear Steve and Spencer talk about it and explain some of the nuances about the game.

Copper Harbor MI Boy Senior Portraits
As Spencer changed into his third outfit for his Copper Harbor senior pictures the sky was growing progressively darker. This secluded beach is only about a two minute walk from the parking area. I love the variety of backgrounds and textures the Lake Superior shoreline provides – this really helped us to get great variety in a short amount of time!
Talk about good timing, though – literally as I put the lens cap back on my camera big raindrops began to fall. We all broke into a run as the drops turned into sheets of rain!

A few last words –
Spencer and Steve – thank you for planning senior portraits into your vacation weekend! One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to meet so many people and getting to learn a bit about each family’s interests and hobbies. We can’t wait to see where life takes you after high school!
